WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP:

Chevening Scholarships (UK)

1. Scope & Duration

• Scope: Covers one-year taught Master’s degree programs at any accredited UK university.

• Duration: Exactly 12 months (non-renewable).

2. Applicant Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (Nigeria is eligible).

• Must hold an undergraduate degree equivalent to an upper second-class (2:1) honors or above in the UK.

• Must have a minimum of 2 years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of verifiable work experience (full-time, part-time, or structured volunteering).

• Applicants who wish to take up the scholarship offered by Chevenin must commit to returning to Nigeria for a minimum of 2 consecutive years following the completion of the program.

• Must apply to 3 eligible UK university courses and secure at least one unconditional admission offer before the specified program deadline.

3. Financial Benefits & Purpose

• Tuition Fees: Covered up to the standard limit (full tuition cover).

• Stipends: Monthly living allowance to cover housing, food, and daily expenses.

• Travel: Economy class return flight ticket to and from the UK.

• Allowances: Arrival allowance, homeward allowance, single visa application fee, and travel grants for approved academic events.

4. Timing & Fund Disbursement

• Application Window: Opens in August and closes in October annually.

• Selection Announcement: Candidates are interviewed between March and April; the final award decision is communicated in mid-June.

• Disbursement: Flight tickets and arrival allowances are paid before or upon departure/arrival in September/October. Monthly stipends are remitted directly to the scholar's UK bank account on a recurring monthly schedule throughout the academic session.
